Why is it that people are quick to leave a negative review when they’ve felt like they’ve had bad service and find it hard to take the time to leave a positive review when it’s either been a good experience or even just a mediocre experience?
I myself have been guilty of writing negative reviews while filled with rage, in most cases, it’s happened due to not getting the correct food order or receiving food late, a common man trait of being “hangry”, which is the worse type of angry.
Being a business owner myself, these days I try and be more rational when it comes to negative reviews. I like to calm down and then try and leave a more constructive review which will hopefully help the business owners and at the same time inform other customers.
Bad reviews are easy to leave, but good reviews or just a review often seems much harder. But it’s very important that we all make time to leave a review, especially in this day and age of online ordering for almost everything, along with the onslaught of fake reviews; it’s really important that we all leave some sort of a review when we use services or buy products both online and offline.
Other reasons why it’s important to leave reviews is that even if you are not a business owner, you may one day become one. It’s easier than ever to start your own business these days and we can help each other’s business grow with positive reviews. Yes, some businesses will receive bad reviews from time to time. But the reality is, businesses can’t please everyone every time. Imagine a small business that is actually providing a great service or product and its happy customers don’t take the time to leave a review, but the odd upset customer leaves a review. It can tarnish and affect the business and the happy customers will be the ones who lose out in the long run if that business closes down.
Of course, if a business genuinely gets a lot of bad reviews, then it’s best the business owner knows and tries to make improvements or maybe get a reality check on their choice of business.
Reviews are a great way for business owners to gauge the results of their efforts on good customer service and hospitality, which in turn helps them drive their energy to do even more for their customers.
